help getting started

okay, I want to start playing drums.

Problem - im po'
Problem - I try to set up a deal on musicians friend and no matter what I do I always end up with a 1500 dollar shopping cart.
Issue - I know I want a 6 piece kit, I need a double pedal, 2 crashes, hi hat, ride, china, and a splash or two.

I really wouldnt want to spend over 1000 dollars, I would prefer something around 700 for the whole shabang...am I crazy?

yes

or you would have to buy very crappy cymbals. Just start with hihat, ride, crash man. Cymbals are like pedals for guitar players, you dont buy them untill you can play well

Get a second hand set of shells, then you can buy a cheap(ish) cymbal pack and a few stands... much cheaper, don't buy the shells new!

I saw a 6 piece kit on sell at musicians friend for $600. Maybe you should look for it on there. It was a pearl, I believe.
