Double Bass Speed

i've been playing with double kicks for about a year now, and i can keep a steady beat at about 150 or 160 bpm and i've been stuck at this tempo for about a month or two now, i was just wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to improve speed and maybe on some different techniques that i can use to improve speed and accuracy.

Work on broken up kick patterns. Don't do straight double bass all the time to get better. Make up some cool rhythms with double bass. Chris Adler from Lamb of God is a good drummer to get ideas for this from. His playing might be a little too fast so try going slower.

Double bass!!

Alrite its all about pushing yourself BUT that word is powerful u have to learn to push your self but still be in control!!! thats key if u go fast but are not in control then your muscle will just seize up and boom u got yourself a injury
i suggest that you start slow then slower increase your speed to where u r comfortable with then jsut extend that just a tiny bit and keep that speed at a steady rate

Question!! u paly with ankles or legs? or both?

think about your legs and ankles and your arms and fingers
legs = arms
ankles = fingers
to obtain maxium speed use your ankles u may feel a bit uncomfortable but... u need to build up your ankles muscles once thats done u bee flying
There are 3 lvls as the great george kollias says
lvl 1 basic jsut stepping on the pedal
lvl 2 using legs
lvl 3 ankles

i hope this helps there are alot of vids actually HERE!!!

in level 3 your referring to the swivel technique?

click metalmedia in my sig, click on Video Dungeon, then click DRUM VIDEO GALLERY

there is every drum video you will ever want right there. includes about 20 from derek roddy and another 20 from george kollias.
