Tom tunage

Ok, I have read every guide out there. I have managed to tune everything according to the "rules" and I am still having problems with ring. I dont want my toms to ring nearly as much as they are. I want to know if there is anyway to tune them so they dont ring as much but still sound good. I have tried tuning the bottom head lower than the top and the otherway around but to no avail. I know people use duct tape and such... but I really want to stay away from that.

I have been drumming for about 3 years and I can play but I can never seem to get a good feel for tuning, so basically when I play it does not sound as good as it could.

I am using EVANS genera G2s on both the tops and bottoms of my toms if that helps.

Much thankx to anyone that can give me any good advice

Evans Controll rings

$5 or so per ring availible in all sizes, Works wonders for reducing that Tom ring there is a pic of my kit here somewhere, you can see Controll rings on ALLL my toms

they do what putting duct tape and tissue on skins does, but cheaper and more proffesional and without looking budget as!

With my snare (which has got a coated G2, funnily enough), I deliberately loosen one or two lugs slightly once it's tuned and that cuts the ring down a lot. Never had to try it on my toms because I always use Remo PS3 heads with their built-in ant-ring.. er.. rings.

Might be worth a go just to see.

I could have sworn I posted a reply in this thread, and it's not there. I fucking typed out a paragraph too...
